Twielsen – TV ratings based on twitter tweets

Twielsen is a twitter app that displays which TV shows are the current favourites with twitter users.

You can see the top show ratings in a nice and clean representation. This app is currently limited to US shows and we hope they extend the service to shows around the world.

Twielsen doesn’t rate shows just on the number of tweets a show receives. There is a definite algorithm which places emphasis on the attention quality and quantity that a show receives. Based on some calculations, the app rates shows on a scale of 1 to 100 Twielsen points.

The app even has some spam protection so that no single user can alone influence the popularity rating of a TV show!

Twielsen is a TV show popularity rating system (currently limited to US TV shows). The rating system is based on real time social media data, primarily micro blogging messages sent by the users of Twitter a.k.a. “tweets”. Why wait till tomorow to see which shows are hot tonight? That will be too late. Why not see it as it happens? That is what Twielsen is all about.
