The Java Balloon Project is not exactly the kind of twitter application that you as an end user would use. This is something that has never been attempted before and probably would not be done again!
A company in Bucharest, Romania built a custom iPhone twitter application that would take pics at regular intervals and post them to Twitter. The iPhone with the custom application installed was tied to a helium balloon and let off.
By doing this, the company claims to have created the “highest twitter client ever”.

An IPhone attached to a Helium filled balloon, live-twetting a photo every minute on the @javabaloon twitter account. The project was presented on the 18th of September 2009, during the WebStock event, a local Bucharest IT conference, as a live example for unusual Twitter applications
