Blu – desktop twitter client for Vista / Windows 7

Blu is a desktop twitter app developed for Windows Vista / Windows 7. It requires .NET framework 3.5 and since .NET 3.5 is not available for XP, Blu would only run on Vista or higher versions.

Update: Through comments on this post we found out that .NET 3.5 is available for Windows server 2003 and XP too! So this client should probably work for XP users.

There are a lot of cool features in this app. You can view unlimited tweets. No restrictions whatsoever. Scroll your timeline and all the previous tweets would be displayed to you.

Blu displays how many characters you have left using large numbers behind your tweet so you know when you’re about to run out of space. You can view conversation threads too! Now the next time you get a reply, don’t scratch your head wondering the context of the reply.

URLs are automatically converted to tiny url and you can expand a short url to view the actual link.

A unique feature of Blu would be the Fav option. You might be following a lot of people, but there would be a few whose tweets you just can’t miss. Fav such twitter users and you’ll be notified whenever they tweet.

    .NET 3.5 is available for Windows XP (and Server 2003). You can probably get it through Windows Update or directly from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&DisplayLang=en.

    Uh, too bad that .NET 3.5 is officially available for Windows XP. I created my own Twitter application with a native Windows GUI using .NET 3.5. This website needs a place where developers can submit their applications for review. If it does, then I apologize, I have not found it.

    I have XP and I dont like to install heavy frameworks like .net 3.5, adobe air, etc. I dont think twitter client coding would need any specialized function from standard operating system API that is not already available in standard windows. (that is without using .net framework). I also know that people are using pirated windows xp so they cant install .net framework from windows security update site. That site does genuine windows check.

    – Blu – Yeap, one of “the best” desktop twitter app for Win 7, but the #RefreshTime whit 2 min. are too long.
